Hi,
We have noticed that several have problems with the client when installing Pro.
They say: “thinstation hangs last message on screen: "uncompressing linux"” this is not exactly true. When creating a “managed client” the client must have access to a TFTP server. When setting up our solution and you are using the built in DHCP for boot you MUST turn of all other DHCP in the system. If you have an other DHCP, and the client is "uncompressing linux" for a long while, the client is searching for a TFTP server. The client will search the TFTP server for about 15-20min before timing out. So it can take up to 20min to boot the client and you are not able to manage the client.
I have a 7 step process that will help you to setup the system adding functionality step by step:
1) Install AnywhereTS Pro and configure a “Network Boot setup”
2) Configure Internal services as you se fit. http://anywherets.com/download/runfirst1.png
3) Make sure all added terminal servers are online. If you for some reason cant have all intended terminal servers online, delete the on you have offline and add them later.
4) Create a client image with “Configure network boot image”. Make sure the client you are creating is in unmanaged mode. The benefit is, the client will not try to connect to the TFTP server after "uncompressing linux". Make sure the client is working properly. http://anywherets.com/download/Wizard2.png
5) Now you create a new boot image and activate the managed mod. If you get “thinstation hangs "uncompressing linux"” experience, you probably have a DHCP in the system interfering with the one used by the PXE boot sequence.
6) Find the interfering DHCP and deactivate ore reconfigure the DHCP and all should work out fine.
7) Now be creative and configure your soft thin client environment as you wish GOOD LUCK!
Regards
